Designer: Jeremy Scott

From the first time I watched a Korean Music Video, I have loved their clothes! In developing myself as a designer, and trying to figure out just what it is I want to do in the Apparel Industry, I have thought often about how amazing it would be to design for Korean Pop Bands.

It seems that there isn't really designers that design specifically for a certain band, it seems more of a designer creates masterpieces of clothing and the band wears them in their videos. Sometimes relationships are formed and designers do design for their favorite band. One example of this would be Adidas designer Jeremy Scott and his fantastic relationship with the band 2NE1.

Jeremy Scott
Jeremy Scott attended Pratt Fashion School in Brooklyn, NY, and has designed for many runways, including Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Moscow, London and Seoul. If you want to see his most recent runway collection, go to his website!

In 2011, 2NE1 all wore clothing designed by Jeremy Scott to the MTV's Best New Bands Concert. Here are some photos from that event:

And can't forget the shoes!!!
I love Korean Pop music, but they aren't the only ones who wear Jeremy Scott's clothing. Here are some people from the American Pop Music Industry!
Katy Perry
Rihanna

I went to Adidas website, and found some things I would love to buy! Including this beautiful pair of boots, designed by Jeremy Scott, inspired by a butterfly!

And I will leave you with a more recent photo of Jeremy Scott with his favorite band!

Festive Fingernails

I removed the last of my Halloween nail polish today and have been trying to figure out what I want to do next. These were probably one of my favorite designs though!

I think you can see clearly what my theme was! I would also like to point out, that I have never received more compliments/comments on my nails than when they looked like candy corn! The great part, is that it is a really easy design to do! (Provided you have all of the colors you need).

Step 1- Paint your fingernails white
Step 2- Paint a horizontal orange stripe across the middle of your fingernail
Step 3- Paint the tip of the fingernail yellow
Step 4- Clear coat over the top

BAM! You have candy corn fingernails!

Note: Make sure you allow plenty of time to dry between coats, so the nail polish doesn't get all thick and goey. I have a real hard time with this, because I can't seem to be patient enough to wait to do the next coat! But do it, because it pays off!

Good luck!

Shoe Brand: Sorel

I had known about Sorel as a brand that my dad talked about as a great cold-weather boot. In my mind, I always thought of the heavy, rubber boot with a fat liner that definitely keeps your feet warm, but doesn't do anything for your aesthetic.

Apparently, this is no longer the case! I had the opportunity to speak with a woman in HR from Columbia Sportswear (who now owns Sorel), and she informed me that Sorel's focus is currently on the target market of women 18 - 24.

With her encouragement to browse Sorel's website, I was amazed at what I found! These boots were not the ugly rugged boots I had pictured, these boots were fashionable and functional (my favorite design combination)! Don't take my word for it, take a look at these beauties or go pursue the website yourself!

Sorel's Women's Conquest Carly $220

I was so fascinated with all of these beautiful boots, that I ended up looking at everything else on the website. To go along with promoting women's products, Sorel is promoting entrepreneur women who wear their boots. There is a video on the website and a link to a blog that promote 5 different women who have done amazing things. More kudos to Sorel!

Because I wanted to learn more about Sorel, I also found out that they were originally a Canadian company founded by Kitchener (later Kaufman Rubber Co.) in 1962. Their boots were made in Canada then, but when the company went bankrupt, Columbia purchased the brand and now they are manufactured outside of Canada.

I don't know about you, but when my shoe fund gets a little more green in it, I'll be purchasing some footwear from Sorel!

Ramses the Tyrant

What do you know about Ramses II, one of the longest-ruling Pharaohs of Egypt? There are a lot of very interesting facts about this Pharaoh, but the main discussion of this blog is the feline who has been given his name.

And this is Ramses! The eight-month old, starving cat that got dropped off near my parents' house! He picked a good time, because the only heart he had to melt was my mother's, and she has a big heart. It just so happened that my dad and Devynn were just leaving for Eastern Oregon for their deer hunt, and Kambria and I went to visit Cassandra in San Francisco for her birthday. This little guy was here when we got back, and what a surprise he has been!

First of all, he is ridiculously playful. Our other cats are all Manx, and are very "introverted." They are super sweet to everyone in the family (although some cats seem to have their favorites) and very skittish when new people are around. Not Ramses. He could be described as extremely extroverted! He hardly sleeps, he always wants to play, he is always hungry, and he always has something to say!

So, why the name Ramses? I think this name was actually Kambria's idea. It could be that I made her listen to the first book of the Amelia Peabody Series on the way down (and she enjoyed it!) and that the majority of the story takes place in Egypt in the late 1800s.

It does seem fitting for him though. Instead of black eye liner like what Egyptians wore (or like a lot of other cats) he has black lipstick. He also wants to be the center of attention, which is similar to Ramses II erecting statues of himself all over Egypt. The fact that he came to us as an adolescent could also be likened to Ramses II taking the thrown of Egypt in his teen years.

Ramses is adapting to life here very well. He still plays a little rough, but he sleeps more and isn't starving (still obsessed with food though).

Here are another couple of pictures of this funny cat:
Here is Ramses on my shoulders sleeping ( I think)
He jumped up there of his own accord!

Here's the little Tyke playing by himself underneath
the wine cabinet
I will also share with you  just one fact that I learned while doing a little research on Ramses II. (Note: This was on Wikipedia, but it did have 3 citations, you make the call!)

Apparently in 1974, Egyptologists saw that Ramses II's Mummy was deteriorating in the Cairo Museum. Ramses II was issued an Egyptian passport that stated his occupation as "King (deceased)" and they sent him on to Paris to find out that he had a fungus that was causing the problem. Also, when he arrived in Paris, the military gave him a welcome befitting a king!

Way to go Ramses!!

Update!

Long time no talk! Since when did Blogger change everything up? It seems I need to do more than just post an update, I need to learn how to use all the new features!!

Blogger is also trying to get me to update to Google Plus. Anyone else use Google Plus and think that is way better than Blogger? My sister Kambria just started her blog in Google Plus, and I was so disappointed that I couldn't be a "follower." I guess I'm not a religious leader or anything, so maybe followers aren't that important after all.

I am always fascinated with November. In November you have all the men (well a lot of men) participating in being lazy and not shaving. Then you have all of these other awesome people who commit to writing a blog post everyday, or writing an entire new novel. My sister Devynn is participating in the novel challenge, and I am amazed every time she gives me the update of how many thousand of words she needs to write to catch up! My sister Kambria is posting blogs all month, and I have to say it is amazing what this creative outlet is doing for her! She is a triathlete, so a lot of her posts are very sports-oriented, but she's got some random fun posts in there too. You should go check it out here! Join her circle or +1 her, or whatever it is you do within the realm of Google plus!

In looking at my old posts, it seems I write more in the winter months. Must be all of the cold weather keeping me indoors. I'll be posting a little more often, I don't want the total number of posts for 2012 to be two....
